On January 11th it was announced that the Indy Inline is getting Sport Court! Hopefully this will help them further the popularity of Inline Hockey in Indianapolis.

I had the pleasure of watching the Indy Inline Elite Team Hockey scrimmage on last Saturday morning. It was before the first ever youth clinic that they hosted at the Ellenberger Park rink. I’ve had the pleasure of becoming friends with some of the guys over this past Indy Fuel season. It’s been a while since I have played any inline hockey but would like to get back into playing. The Indy Fuel actually sponsored the youth clinic.

It’s great to see a local group take some interest in growing the sport of Inline Hockey in their community. They had a decent turnout of 10 kids which is pretty good for the first ever event. A few of the parents did say that their child would rather play Inline Hockey over Ice Hockey due to the temperature.

Their Elite Team plays in the Midwest Inline Hockey Association and travels out of state for tournaments during the season. Indy Inline also does a lot of great things fundraising for many good causes around the community. I hope that we can get more support behind their organization to help them grow the sport. There aren’t enough places to play Inline Hockey in the Central Indiana area. In a perfect world it would be great if we could get more rinks built for hockey. Or get some existing one to start hosting some Inline Hockey. Thankfully after the Indy Parks Department stopped using the Ellenberger Park rink for ice skating they’ve allowed Indy Inline to use the facility for Inline Hockey.
